I haven't tried that method yet. I mostly have been using wood but it'd be nice to vary it a bit so they could be smaller yet hold the tall piece without it falling over. I have done my bases several ways. ...Hi Jeannine! I have done my bases several ways. I recently got a drill press and yes you can make them out of paper mache in advance. Let them dry and then set your stop to the depth you want to drill using the drill bit the size of the dowel or wire and then glue them in place. Easy peasy!!
