Yesterday I took the 24 pound boxes of fastmache I had ordered and converted them from their cardboard boxes into bag lined plastic lidded buckets without the use of an N-95 respirator since I was out of them. I figured since I was working outside I would be fine. This morning I am so plugged up, which could also be attributed to allergies since I have been having some recent trouble, but I'm betting some of this is from my bone-head move yesterday. I went to the hardware store about an hour ago and bought a new box of 20, N-95 particulate masks and I am back in business to dig into my new stash of the powdery paper mache mixture. You know, sometimes as artists and craftsmen we forget to take care of ourselves by using the right protection, yet even the two monkey-cats below know a mask is a necessary tool for use in our house. Now if I can just teach them how to put them on.
Jake was the first to bring me a mask for use today....
and right behind Jake came Elwood with a second mask. I'm so glad I have such thoughtful animals!!! Back to the clay for me and the boys.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Sometimes we get caught up in the doing of our art, not the safety details. Glad it dawned on you what was going on. take care of Laurie, and those cute cute cats! ~PJ
I have great sympathy for you! I have opened bags underneath the vent over the stove - that seems to help! As far as Jake and
Elwood are concerned - it is really true! The Blues Brothers rock!

Hi ya Laurie ~ Interesting...well take care of yourself 1st, cause no one else will do it for you!
Hope you are wearing some GREEN whilst you toil in the clay today! '-)
Kelly is definitely an Irish name.
Prints sell well @ Etsy because they are a budget priced item. Like you said (in EHAG) they are a great & inexpensive way to introduce a new collector to an artist's work.
PS: I just purchased my 1st pack of Paper Clay and will be creating some interesting new goodies SOON!
Again enjoy your St. Paddie's day lady!

Oh dear Laurie!
Do be careful and be a good girl and listen to Jake and Ellwood from now on! I totally understand getting caught up in the moment though....I've done some pretty stupid things involving my art too over the years. All...of course...will go unmentioned! giggle*giggle

PS...Happy Paddie's Day too!
That stuff can be nasty. Good thing your Monkey-cats keep you on your toes!
Thanks for letting me know about the art cards. :) Give Monkey-cats hugs from me!
Laurie,
Smart Kitties.....Trust me I know allergies...dang cedar fever...We all forget to take care of ourselves some time or another..a good kick in the pants helps..even if its our kitties who kick...
Smiles,
Sonia ;)
Laurie,
I myself have that same thing and paid the price as you have. With my allergies in full gear it almost always leads to a migrain. Good thing you have the kittens trained so well. I don't think they will let you forget that mask again. LOL
Take care my dear and can't wait to see what you create next.
Blessings,Pea
Love that Jake!! Such a cuties.
I am terrible about wearing masks and that kind of thing. But i learned my lesson when i was spray painting a few years ago. I had a terrible cough for months after breathing in the paint. Idiot!!
Looking forward to seeing more of your fabulous creations! Hope the allergies don't get you down.
xoxo

Yep, been there, done that. Used my airbrush a couple of years ago without a mask and experienced paint-poisoning. I got so jittery and disoriented that I almost had to go to the hospital! Safety first....promise?
What smart little kitties:)!
I did something similar 2 summers ago. I started spray painting in my garage w/the door open. I was doing a lot of it, and didn't use a mask. I thought, 'how strange that I don't smell the paint'. Hubby walks in and said,"What the heck are you doing? It's so misty in here!" I don't know what I was thinking, because I always use a mask, unless it's absolutely some quick spray, whereby I put my blouse against my face, while spraying.
Few days later I was working at my dining room table late at night and got so very dizzy. I took the dizziness to bed w/me. That was not very good.
Love the kitties. I have 3:) I always get head kity's toy as a gift. He's such a doll.
