Thank you!!

Many, many thanks to the wonderful group of collectors that were so kind to work with me during the sale last night while our email and eventually our internet service failed.  I initially thought it was just a link issue from the blog to our email address, but later discovered it was the internet service, which eventually failed while I was still attempting to connect with collectors.  A special thank you to the two collectors that went to Facebook to make me aware of what was happening.    It created stress on my end, but I had one sweet collector tell me she just took her dog for a walk when I didn't respond to her request right away.  Bless her heart!

With that said, I want to communicate that I do not take any of this for granted and I'm humbled each time a purchase is made.  So much time and personal energy goes into each work i create that my only hope is that it shows in the quality of the sculpting, painting and expression in each piece and that it speaks to collectors.   It gives me such joy to live this creative life that I cannot imagine my daily journey without it. You make this possible and you have my deepest gratitude.

Thank you all again for your encouragement, kind words and support!  Have a glorious fall and terrific Halloween season!  Boo!

Working on Ghoultide...there goes summer!!

What happened to spring?  Suddenly it is the second week of June, and my inventory of Halloween pieces is far from where it should be at this point.  Perhaps I'm getting older and just can't work at the frenzied pace I used to, or it could be that I let that darned thing called Facebook eat up too much of my time, or more than likely it is just the simple fact I have been watching too many young squirrels, baby bunnies and butterflies pass my studio window.  Regardless, my reality is that I need to kick it in gear and get to work!

Speaking of Halloween, it is a joy to announce that I will be participating in Ghoultide Gathering again this fall.  Ghoultide will be held in Chelsea, Michigan, on October 3rd, so now is a great time to make your plans to attend!  Take the link above and go to the Ghoultide Gathering website for details about the show and where to stay.

The Ghoultide experience has become a magical part of the Halloween season for me, and I look forward to seeing fellow artists and their works along with greeting collectors and Halloween enthusiasts in such a festive atmosphere.   Many hours of love and labor go into this show by it's participants and our show directors, Scott Smith and Bill Gilmore, which combined make it a magical weekend that does not disappoint! (Have I convinced you yet?)  I hope to see many of you there!

A few Halloween works have already left the studio table and will be making their journey to Michigan this fall.  I do not create female pumpkin figures very often, so much to my surprise one grew from the studio patch in recent weeks.  She will be joining a few witches of the same gender, so trouble may be brewing at Monkey-Cats Studio this year!

 Have broom, will travel!

Back to work for me!  Oh look, another Swallowtail....and so it goes.

I’m afraid that Bobby is a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to bat walking and this will probably be his last attempt.

Bobby and Barnaby stand 7.75” tall to the top of the bat (5” to the top of Bobby’s head), is 4.5” wide and 3” deep

The work is a one of a kind paper mache original created without the use of molds, is painted in acrylic paints and sealed with a matte polymer varnish.  He comes signed, numbered and dated.

Bobby Boo is full of details in his paint including a full moon with radiating
light waves setting on an ombre painted night sky filled with stars and bats.
Even Barnaby Bat has the details of a finely painted vest with lapels and a tiny
star pattern to repeat the design motif.

I will sell the work to the first person to send me an email

As always, thank you so much for your consideration

Finally, an update on what is happening at Monkey-Cats Studio plus images of a little Boo Boy that will be available tomorrow night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern as part of the EHAG Emporium.  Short notice on the work being available, but that seems to be how things are going right now in my life.

We have been under siege, I mean construction, since October.  It started with our roof being replaced, eventually turned to our windows and doors being replaced in 20 degree weather (silly of us to think it would be a piece of cake when we changed the dimensions on all but 3 windows, which meant drywall work and the two of us completely repainting the entire interior of the house....darn cats were useless except for Jake who managed to run his tail through fresh paint a few times) and my studio was boxed up for almost two months.  Last week they finally finished the new siding and the electrician is currently outside replacing our exterior outlets and lights.  My studio is back in place and I am back in production.  Life is good!!!

On to the Boo Boy available the night of March 31 (tomorrow).  This is Bobby, a not so brave little ghostie, that thought it would be fun to have a little bat to take out trick or treating.  Barnaby, the little bat, had other ideas and quickly wrapped himself around Bobby's head doing a little dive bombing in the process.  Bobby was both surprised and a little scared of his companion and realizes he isn't very good at bat walking.  I'm pretty sure that Barnaby will not get to go trick or treating again with Bobby.

This little paper mache sculpture is a one of a kind hand-sculpted original created without the use of molds.  The painted design is unique to this figure and has details on Barnaby bat of a small vest with painted stars and lapels, as well as Bobby Boo's shirt being painted with a night scene filled by a moon with stars and bats.

The figure is fully painted with the night sky and star motif continuing on the back of the figure. He measures 5" to the top of Bobby's pointy head (7.75" to the top of Barnaby Bat's  head), 4.5" wide and 3":deep.

A side view shows how the design wraps around Bobby's torso and how Barnaby's tether wraps around the top of Bobby's head.

I will update this blog tomorrow night at 9 p.m. Eastern with his price and how to contact me for purchase.  I will sell the work to the first person to email with a purchase request.
