Peanut Butter Skelly Time!

I was having a little peanut butter on a sesame rice cake while working on two skellies, and all of a sudden that silly little song, "peanut butter jelly time" popped in my head...only I don't have any jelly so I changed it to "peanut butter skelly time".

This is the little guy I'm working on today plus I have to get some things finished up in clay. I guess that makes it a two-fer day with a bit of clay and a bit of paint.

I also played with the new camera. I've had goldfinches and house finches on the bird feeders keeping me company as I work. I just love seeing them when I look up, which is happening more frequently since I have a squirrel that jumps up on a plant stand and clicks his little claws on the patio window to let me know he needs a peanut. Geez!

Off to finish my peanut butter....have a good day!

New Camera

Oh dear, I had to get a new camera last night because my antique wouldn't produce images with enough dpi for printing so I have spent the entire day photographing work. I went from 1.6 on my old camera to 12.1 megapixels (huge difference), and it was a pretty easy learning curve and transition regarding the new camera's operations. Sadly, I had to give up my floppy disks....I think I was due for an update!!

This is Salvador Squash...does he look crisp? (Please tell me yes even if you can't tell!)

Tomorrow I have to get to the studio... I hear little creatures begging for some paint!!

Have a great weekend!

Painting and Need to Sculpt

Something is buzzing this little fellows head, but he's still smiling so I'm thinking it must not be too big or too scary!! I'm finishing some paint on another figure and I definitely need to get back into the paper mache and sculpt.

So many ideas and only two hands....do you think I can learn to sculpt with my toes too?

Have a great day!!

Little Hooty Owl

This is my first attempt at a little owl figure for Halloween, and he isn't quite there yet. He needs to be "monkey-catted" up a bit more before I'm satisfied so I'm sketching out ways to try to make that happen. I'm finding out it's hard to make an owl beak smile......

especially when I think of owls as being so worldly and wise, but I have some ideas so we will see how the next sculpt goes!

In the meantime have a great weekend and enjoy the spring weather!

SpookyTime Jingles Updates at Midnight Tonight!!

UPDATE: Both are SOLD!!! Thank you!
Where is the time going??....I sort of know how the white rabbit feels right now! Silly me, time flies! Tonight is the SpookyTime Jingles update at midnight. I have two offerings this month, "Let's Hide the Halloween Eggs featuring Boo-more Bones" and "Sammy Squash." ( The black block that "Boo-more" is sitting on was used for elevation and is not part of the piece)

Both works are made of paper mache and wire with "Boo-more" wearing a raffia collar, and "Sammy" donning a German glass glitter bow tie. Lots of little details in the painting and of course on the Halloween buckets...and one bucket is actually full of tiny Halloween eggs (warning, I would not eat any of those "eggs" that "Boo-more" has in his bucket!)

I was able to get some sneak peeks of some of the upcoming goodness for tonight so don't miss out!!! Here is a link to make it easy for you:

I have a table full of figures just waiting for some paint so I'm off to see if I can make some characters come to life!!!

Have a great day!

Painting and Sculpting, and Sculpting and Painting

I'm working like crazy in the studio this week plus we will be celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary so I might be in and out the next few days!!! Below are a few pieces in the works so I thought I'd at least show you I really am working...well, I tell people it's work!

The sun is shining and I have bird feeders in desperate need of refilling so I better get to work!

Have a great day!

Big Head Frankie

I had a weekend filled with painting and final sculpting on a few pieces and thought I would share "Big Head Frankie" with you. This little guy has a thing for Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack crew in Vegas so he was insistent on tuxedo style attire, but picked a silly pumpkin fellow for his bucket. Guess you can't always understand the mind, or should I say seed-pulp, of a pumpkin boy.

I've been using more glazes and experimenting on the finished paint surface of some of the more recent pieces and I think it may show in the close up of "Frankie". Hope you like the change. I'm particularly happy with how it is working on the heads and faces of the figures. Unfortunately, the camera can't pick it all up, but I still think it shows in a subtle way in the images of "Frankie".

Have a great week!! Back to the paint for me!

Back to Sculpting

I've been working on sculpting bodies and heads this past week and here is the result of my efforts so far. They still need arms, hands, hats, bow ties, buckets, wands, brooms, scepters and anything else these little fellows tell me they need.

I have an artist friend that refers to them as "naked" at this stage, but I see them already clothed and covered with paint in my strange little mind....can't you see that too?

Have a great day all!!
