Trick or Treat Skelly Belly

"Trick or Treat Skelly Belly" is a new small figure (13.25" tall x 3" wide x 2.5" deep) that I just finished. He is made out of a paper clay blend with wood dowels, wire and a papier mache base. He is full of details and holds his belly while he laughs after just doing something naughty at a home that didn't give any Halloween treats. Bad little Skelly Belly, bad!!

Skelly stands on a papier mache box painted with a graveyard gateway illuminated by a small moon and patroled by two small flying bats.

Skelly wears a pointed hat with 3 cream colored stripes and a 31 in the center that is encircled with a black oval wash and tiny black brim. He has lovely tinted orange cheeks and stitched lips with a big toothy grin and haunting orange eyes set into his black eye sockets. He wears an antiqued orange shirt with cream polka dots, a dressy vampire bat bow tie with two black buttons and orange and cream striped leggings above his black pointed boots. Skelly carries a pumpkin not to light his way but to hold the goodies he is collecting...the pumpkin requires occasional feeding so Skelly Belly doesn't get to eat everything he collects.

Some of Skelly's details are shown above down to the tiny boney fingers and nose and teeth on the vampire bat.

This little Skelly Belly looks great with other Halloween figures so he will make someone a nice addition to their collection!!

Visions of Stars & Bats Danced in His Head

Something new this week. This is the second in a series of small bat buzzed pumpkin heads entitled, "Visions of Stars and Bats Danced in His Head." This is however, the first pumpkin that appears to have a dental program since all of his teeth are neatly aligned to form his lovely smile. The clay blend pumpkin head sits atop a hand-sewn dyed raffia collar on a papier mache base. The 2 stars suspended over his head on black curled wire are metal, and the small bat is made of a clay blend. The triangular papier mache base is painted with 2 silly faced pumpkins with tiny little bats on the front, and black silhouette pumpkins on the sides. All painting is done in acrylic paints.

The little pumpkin head has hazel eyes and plump little cheeks with small dimples when he smiles. He stands 11.5" tall to the tip of his star and is 5" wide by 5" deep. The wires can be bent with care to gently alter the position of the bat and stars.

This little guy will be available August 13, on SpookyTime Jingles marketplace along with "Gone Batty," shown below in the July 23, posting. I've been checking the Flickr site for works in progress by the other STJ artists and it looks to be an exciting month!!!! You need to get this on your calendar!!

New Yarn, Don't Ignore the Cats

My sweet little Elwood, the little head at the bottom left of the first photograph, came prancing up to me at my studio table just a talking and rubbing and then I looked up and looked around the corner to find the following. Elwood is trying to look cute!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!

I had purchased a new glittery fuzzy eyelash yarn to use in some of my pieces and the two culprits got up on the table, opened the bag, got the wrapper off and ran through the kitchen into the living room through the dining room and back again. They were in stealth mode.

Watch for Laurie, I think I can get it again!

I tried rolling the ball back up, decided to get some photos to show the hubby when he gets home tonight and while I went for the camera, Elwood went for the ball again! This time it went to the basement. You know, I have to quit this post now to go finish rolling up a ball of yarn.
I did laugh...I'm ashamed to admit it, but when the little poo went tearing down the stairs this last time it wasn't as funny!!!
Happy creating!!!!!!! Lord knows my cats did!!!
