This Is Post 198...Just One More Before The Giveaway Announcement

I thought I would have another post up earlier this week, but I just couldn't get my fingers out of the clay except to have a paint brush in my hand to put some paint on a couple of the following WIPs. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood to sculpt, and that is why it is always a good idea for me to have some dried figures to paint on when those days hit. Yesterday, I covered 22 egg shaped paper mache forms (18 small and 22 medium...one of the eggs is on my table getting it's wire hanger attached in case you are counting and find one missing in the photo.)

I have a new witch started, a new vampire figure (short and round), a pumpkin head boy with an over sized head, a skelly and a new "witchy-poo" figure with the face and body on one form with long hanging arms (she has little bat wings too). Below is the first gourd container I have made. I started it a month ago and put paint on it this week just to see if it was working for me, so it isn't completed in paint yet and it also needs a handle.

And then there was my surprise this week!!!! That little Sonia of The Dark Ravens Nest sent me the adorably wrapped gifts she had made me (below). The little "finger" box (it has the hole cut in the bottom for you to put your finger through to scare little ones when you open it...my great-nephews will love this when I show it to them!!!) with a lovely little angelic face on top, and then if that wasn't enough she sent me one of her sculpted black sheep (very appropriate for me). Both of these items came in a really cute carry-out style box covered with lots of purses and shoes that has a cute quote, "You can never have too many purses or girlfriends." Not a bad philosophy!! THANK YOU Sonia!!!!

Hope you all had a joyous and productive week !
Laurie

Oops, one more reminder...I will be doing a giveaway to celebrate my 200th post. If you like what you see when I post the piece you can sign up for it by following my blog (right column, click on the white follow button) or by sending me an email the week of the post for those of you that do not have blog accounts.

Have a great weekend!

Laurie,

You are so wonderful, answering all my questions and inspiring me...I have become addicted to paper mache art...LOL even found a recipe online for old fashioned paper mache made with dryer lint...Im curious about that...

I have always been a FAN of your work since I found you online...So Thank you for being the Sweetie you are and teaching and inspiring me...

I love everything you have in the works there...WOW you have been super busy..Love the huge pumpkin..and the lil fat vampire...

The finger box was a corney joke my Dad would play on us and we always fell for it...the simple pleasures minus fancy gadgets and electronics.

Chris is a sweetheart, super funny, and on top of it all he is a great artist. I remember the gift you received a few months ago from Chris. I thought aww how sweet.....My daughter is now in love with him and his art...LOL..I hope you have a great weekend...

And Thank you for being like a Mentor for me...

Smiles,
Sonia ;)

Hi Robert...you will see the giveaway in two more posts!! Glad you like the pumpkin container. More of those to come and some will be bigger. (bushel gourds)

Amy...thanks for your note and support of my work. You always make me feel great!

Sonia...your comment and gifts are so touching and I don't know how to really express how humbling it is.

Thank you. I agree with you about Chris--he is just a dear and such a HUGE talent...sometimes I don't think he is even aware at how huge his gift is, and the joy his work brings. CK fan here!

Debbie...so glad you stopped by and that you enjoyed the WIPs. I need to come see you!!

David...you would be great at an intervention!!! It is addictive, but I consider it a "soft" addiction. I heard that phrase used the other day and thought---what???!!!! I guess they gauge addictions now too! Thanks for stopping by and I do take breaks-HONEST!

Thanks all!

Hi Laurie!

All your WIPs are so fun to witness - I feel like I get 'virtual' work done! LOL. The little finger box is adorable - what a lovely gift!

Make sure you use some good hand cream after all that sculpting! :)
